With over 20 years of communications experience I have an extremely diverse set of skills in both design and art direction but that's not what really defines me. I am driven by a passion to produce great ideas that elicit an emotional response in people. That is my true definition of success. When I am not designing I enjoy playing guitar, the outdoors and hanging out with my wife and son. I love music of all genres and find it helps inspire me creatively as well.
I was born in Northern California. At an early age I developed a love of the outdoors, spending a good amount of time surfing, skiing, camping and backpacking. I moved to Northern Virginia in the late 80’s where I went to high school and ultimately college receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. After graduation I moved to from Richmond back to Fairfax, Virginia where I worked for a couple small agencies in Washington, D.C. further solidifying my love of design and gaining valuable experience that would carry with me for years to come.

In 1999 I met with a couple close neighbors of mine who were starting a local design company. I freelanced in the evenings for them for about a year before they offered me a position as their first full-time employee. Over the next 11 years I helped them build their service offerings and the company grew from a small design firm to a brand and culture building agency. When I left the company to focus more on digital media I was serving as their art director working on complete brand development which included everything from print material and websites to exhibits and corporate interiors.
I’ve always been a creative person, drawing on all that I see, feel and experience around me as inspiration for my work. Over the years my client list has grown large and quite diverse. I enjoy working with companies both big and small, each of which present a unique set of challenges that keeps me focused. I go where the need is and approach every project with a fresh perspective.
By choosing to focus on the unique and specific needs of my clients, I am able to help guide them and create tailor made solutions that will truly stand the test of time. Good design begins with a well thought out structure and careful planning. To me user experience isn’t just a fancy catch phrase. It’s what validates my work and ensures that the solutions I create are done so with purpose.
