Mister Retro

Behold the Filters

When it comes to Photoshop filters I’m always in search of the next best thing so when my friend Carolyn directed me to Mister Retro I had to write a post about it. This is by far one of the coolest set of filters I have ever seen. If you’ve ever wanted to make an image look like a crumpled piece of paper you pulled out of your back pocket or a 50 year old sign that’s been baking in the sun then Mister Retro is for you. The images below show you just a sampling of what is possible with this suite of filters.

The Filter Sets

There are three sets of filters, RetrographerMachine Wash Deluxe and Permanent Press each priced at about 100 bucks a piece for one set. Believe me, it will be worth every penny. You get about 60 filters in a set but the entire collection gives you a whopping 240 filters. If you are not convinced check them out. And for all things retro they also sell merchandize. Everything from books, to prints, to lithographs.

The Effects

Above is an example of just a handful of the settings that you are given in their popular Machine Wash Deluxe filter. To see them all the effects click here. These filters are a absolute must have for any print, web or exhibit designer looking to create that perfect vintage vibe. The plugins will literally pay for themselves in the time you would spend trying to replicate these complex effects and your clients will be blown away by the results.
